What can we achieve with Systems biology?
At DTU Systems Biology, teaching and development are two sides of the same coin. The department is continuously trying to develop its teaching methods as well as the teachers and students. The teachers question existing knowledge, seek new inspiration from the world around them and inspire each other to think in new ways – and also to view teaching as an academic discipline in its own right, not just a way of passing knowledge on to students.
And the students are challenged not only to think differently and to think for themselves, but also to think big and ambitiously.
DTU Systems Biology is responsible for organizing, developing and teaching the bachelor’s degree programmes in Biotechnology and Human Life Science Engineering. Biotechnology continues at post- graduate (master’s) level, while Human Life Science Engineering leads on to MSc studies in Systems Biology.
Systems biology has helped introducing "Good Teaching Practice", which is a knowledge-sharing forum for teachers, and "Course Guru" who helps students focus their course choices. Both are part of DTU's general offer to students.
Finally, DTU Systems Biology continuously explores opportunities to contribute to the development of both the didactic and as well as the specific academic content of DTU's programmes in general and life science programmes in particular. Recently, we have initiated collaboration with the online education platform Coursera.
We work systematically with talent. Biotech student organizations cooperate with the biggest players in the industry. We believe that a PhD is an attractive continuation of a master's degree at a high level.
