My research comprises various aspects of mycology - the study of fungi. My specialty is characterization and identification of filamentous fungi (mould) from water damaged buildings. I study the growth physiology of fungi on different building materials in order to find methods to prevent fungal growth in buildings. I furthermore work on projects where I study the morphological, physiological and the chemical diversity in different fungal genera, such as Alternaria, Cladosporium and Stachybotrys, with the aim of controlling and preventing fungal spoilage and mycotoxin production in the indoor environment and in food and feedstuffs.
